THE 28-YEAR-OLD GIRL WEPT TEARS OF JOY FOR WEARING THE FIRST PAIR OF SHOES IN HER LIFE

Although it is just a very simple thing that anyone can do as usual, it is a dream of Ms. V.T.H (Binh Thuan province), who has suffered from congenital talipes equinovarus for 28 years. She starts wearing the first pair of shoes in her life after being successfully treated by M.D, Ph.D, Prof. René D. Esser, opening a more communicative and confident life with her new legs.
 
With the joyful eyes when sharing her story, Ms.V.T.H emotionally said: “A miracle has happened in my life! I used to go to many hospitals but no doctors accept to treat because my case was too difficult with aged bones. I intended to give up and continue my current life without changes. Then fortunately, I have been introduced about Dr. René since 2020, but my family still wondered about possibiity of surgery success. Frankly speaking, no one believed that my case could be performed a surgery. It was not until April 2022, I decided to move from Binh Thuan Province to Ho Chi Minh City for receiving the surgery given by the doctor.”

► A chance to cure congenital talipes equinovarus
 
Talipes equinovarus is a condition that the foot turns inward or outward and can occur in one or both feet. 80% of congenital talipes equinovarus have  unknown cause, the remaining 20% is triggered by other comorbidities such as congenital multiple arthrogryposis, neuropathies. Most children can grow normally as others if they fortunately receive early treatment.
 
In contrast, because talipes equinovarus is a progressive disease, its severity increases with age. The longer treatment is delayed, the more severe lesions are and cannot be treated with orthopedic reduction. In this case, surgery is the only option. The orthopedic surgery for talipes equinovarus requires complex surgical techniques, in order to minimize damages to the synaptic cartilage, blood vessels, nerves and avoid inverted deformities.
