AMERICAN INTERNATIONAL HOSPITAL (AIH) - THE SAFE HEALTHCARE SERVICE PROVIDER DURING THE PANDEMIC

Given the unpredictable happenings of COVID-19, American International Hospital (AIH) has been applying the latest guidelines on the disease prevention and control during the outbreak which are issued by the World Health Organization and Vietnam’s Ministry of Health, making sure patient safety during the health care process at the hospital.

Specifically, AIH has strengthened the hospital’s epidemic control by applying the “one-stop” principle for all the staff and customers in order to detect patients with suspected or confirmed COVID-19 early on their arrival, ensuring a safe place for medical examination and treatment.

Following the guidance of the Ministry of Health, all staff including doctors and nurses are required to pay more attention to the prevention and control of the disease. Patients who have symptoms of acute respiratory disease (either coughing, fever or shortness of breath) will be quarantined, and transport vehicles are well-prepared for use.

2. SANITIZING VEHICLES, TOOLS, PUBLIC PLACES

At AIH, ambulances are cleaned before and after use; public places such as elevators, handrails, handles (in consulting rooms, patient rooms, WCs,...) are also cleaned to avoid cross-contamination.

3. INITIAL SCREENING AREA (MAIN HALL)

American International Hospital (AIH) screens, recognizes and controls infected and suspected patients at first points of contact (main hall).

The screening area is composed of a one-way system with a safe distance to prevent infection. At the screening area, all the staff and customers will be checked for their body temperature before entering the hospital. All medical staffs wear personal protective equipment to prevent infection.

In addition, customers are guided on how to fill in the Screening Form with basic information on medical history, residential area, admission symptoms, epidemiological features...

To save time, AIH encourages customers to print out the medical form from the Ministry of Health portal - NCOVI and bring it to the screening counter.

Customers are allowed to wear the identification wristband "Tested and safe at the time of check date" after screening before entering the hospital.

4. SCREENING CLINICS AREA

For suspected patients or patients has epidemic factor, medical staff will collect their information as the first step.

Suspected patients will be taken doctor’s orders in the screening clinics areas.

After examination is done and paraclinical results are available, doctors will have appropriate advice.

AIH ensures that the hospital’s medical staff are available 24 hours and drugs, equipment, beds and vehicles for emergencies are in sufficient stock.
