THE CANCERSCREENDX™ MULTI-CANCER EARLY SCREENING TEST EXPERIENCE WORKFLOW AT AMERICAN INTERNATIONAL HOSPITAL (AIH)

09/07/2026

Detecting cancer at an early stage can make a major difference in treatment effectiveness and quality of life. At the American International Hospital (AIH), the CancerScreenDx™ multi-cancer early screening test procedure is scientifically designed, rapid, and private, helping customers experience the screening process with convenience and calmness.

STEP 1: PATIENT PREPARATION

  • No fasting required: Customers do not need to fast at all before blood collection. You can eat, drink, maintain your normal daily activities, and take your regular medications as usual.

  • AIH Consultant: Before the procedure, you will receive detailed counseling regarding the purpose and scope of the screening (more than 110 types of cancers across 20 major groups), the significance of circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) released into the blood by cancer cells, as well as an explanation of how to read and interpret the test results report.

STEP 2: SIGNING THE INFORMED CONSENT FORM FOR TESTING

  • Voluntary Consent: Customers will read and sign a Consent Form before medical staff proceed with sample collection.

  • Content of Consent: Confirms that the customer fully understands professional information, including the nature of the non-invasive screening test, the capability to determine the tissue of origin (TOO) at risk of disease, the accuracy rates of sensitivity (83.0%) and specificity (95.4%), as well as the necessary medical coordination steps following the results. The hospital and the analytical facility commit to the absolute confidentiality of the customer's personal genetic data.

STEP 3: BLOOD SAMPLE COLLECTION

  • Quick and gentle: The procedure is simply a standard peripheral venipuncture, taking place within a few minutes at a clinic or hospital laboratory.

  • Volume of blood to be collected: The nurse will collect approximately 10 mL to 20 mL of whole blood.

  • Specialized collection tubes: The blood is drawn directly into an EDTA anticoagulant tube or a specialized cell-free DNA (cfDNA/ctDNA) collection tube. The protocol strictly prohibits the use of Heparin tubes to prevent denaturing or compromising the quality of genetic sequencing for the blood sample.

STEP 4: SAMPLE SHIPMENT AND TESTING

  • Strict storage: Whole blood samples are maintained at an appropriate room temperature for transportation. In cases where plasma separation is required, the sample must be processed by centrifugation within 2 hours of collection to preserve the integrity of cell-free DNA fragments and prevent hemolysis.

  • Direct sample shipment to Malaysia: AIH packs blood samples according to international medical standards and dispatches them via specialized air cargo directly to the central laboratory of AGTC Genomics in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

  • International Laboratory Standards: Customer blood samples are analyzed using ultra-deep Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) technology combined with Artificial Intelligence (AI) in a laboratory that meets the highest global gold-standard quality accreditations: CAP (College of American Pathologists) certification alongside the dual standards of ISO 15189 and ISO 17025.

STEP 5: RETURNING RESULTS & COUNSELING

  • Rapid turnaround time: The analysis results will be completed and a confidential report will be sent to AIH within 7 to 14 working days from the date of receipt of standard-compliant samples.

  • Interpretation of Results and Subsequent Medical Guidance:

    • Negative Result (No cancer signal detected): Customers are completely reassured, but should note that this result reflects the status at the time of the test and does not replace other routine screening programs. The customer is advised to continue maintaining a regular health check-up schedule according to general recommendations.

    • Positive Result (Cancer signal detected): The test report will clearly specify the particular genetic mutation marker along with the prediction of the tissue of origin (TOO) where the tumor is most likely to have originated. An oncologist at AIH will immediately discuss the results directly with the customer to prescribe specialized diagnostic imaging (such as a CT scan, MRI, or gastroscopy/colonoscopy...) for the fastest possible clinical verification.

    • Partnering with a genetic counselor: The genetic counselor will thoroughly explain the biological significance of the results, while simultaneously supporting customers in establishing a lifestyle modification plan, controlling exposures, and optimizing personalized health management.
