Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) is a common disorder affects the large intestine. This is a chronic condition that require your long-term control. However, irritable bowel syndrome does not cause any changes in intestinal tissue or increase the risk of colorectal cancer.

- Intestinal muscle spasms, gastrointestinal infections, intestinal bacteria changes.
- Stress.
- Genetic factors.
- Diet. Many people have more severe symptoms when eating or drinking certain foods including wheat, dairy products, citrus fruits, beans, cabbage, milk and carbonated drinks.
► Common symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome:
- Abdominal pain, cramps or abdominal distention associated with bowel movements.
- Changes in the appearance of intestinal motility.
- Changes in the frequency of your bowel movements.
- Other symptoms include abdominal bloating or mucus in stool.

- Weight loss.
- Diarrhea at night.
- Rectal haemorrhage.
- Iron deficiency anemia.
- Idiopathic vomiting.
- Dysphagia.
- Persistent pain does not relieve when flatulating or bowel movements.
