3 YEAR OLD KIDS - WHY DO THEY NEED 7 TYPES OF VACCINES?

03/04/2020

Prevention is better than cure. The fact that parents are active in having their children vaccinated is an effective way to prevent them from having serious diseases.

Either free or paid vaccines are effective in protecting children from diseases.

In order for vaccines to work best, parents should have their children under 3 years old vaccinated these following types:

1.Pneumococcus: Children aging from 6 weeks to 5 years old need to get Synflorix.

2.Meningococcemia: Adults and children from 2 years old need to get vaccine against haemophilus influenza caused by meningococcemia (Meningo A+C)

3.Japanese Encephalitis (IMOJEV): A basic dose for immunization includes 2 shots (first shot: when children 9 months old, second shot: 1 year after first shot)

4.Influenza: For adults and children from 6 months of age.

5.Vaccine against diarrhea caused by Rotavirus: Only children under 6 months old need this type of vaccine. Children get the first shot at 6 weeks of age and second shot at least 1 month after the first shot.

6.Measles, Mumps, Rubella: For children from 12 months of age

7.Varicella: For children from 12 months old, second shot after 3 months or when they are 4 to 6 years old and start schooling.

The current erratic weather in Vietnam makes children likely to catch infectious diseases if their body cannot adapt. Therefore, they need to get sufficient vaccination in their early childhood, and parents’ active involvement is necessary.

* The Pediatrics – Neonatology Department of American International Hospital (AIH) offers a wide range of services including: Health check-up; Vaccination; Monitoring child’s physical and mental development; Consultation on nutrition; and other diagnosis and treatment services.

At AIH, for the purpose of preventing cross-infection, the pediatric clinic is properly designed and divided into two separate areas: area for symptomatic children and area for well children.
