5 THINGS TO DO TO ENSURE YOUR FAMILY ENJOYS TET PEACEFULLY

07/02/2026

Preparing for Tet is not just about shopping or cleaning the house, but also about preparing the health of the entire family to enjoy the holiday to the fullest. Let's review 5 small but very important things that should be done before Tet so the whole family can feel secure and fully enjoy the first days of the New Year.

1. Prepare medications and medical records (if available)

During the Tet holiday, purchasing medicine can be difficult as many pharmacies are temporarily closed. To avoid confusion if a situation arises, please have the following medications ready:

  • Fever – Headache – Flu

  • Cough – Runny nose – Sore throat

  • Stomachache – Diarrhea – Digestive disorders

  • Allergies – Insect bites

  • Medications for underlying conditions if there are elderly people in the house

2. Proactively prevent illness for young children

A healthy body before Tet helps children fall ill less often during the festivities. Parents should note:

  • Supplement adequate water and green vegetables for the child

  • Maintain a stable sleep schedule; avoid disrupting daily routines

  • Limit the consumption of too many sweets and carbonated drinks

  • Monitor early signs of coughing, fever, and fatigue

3. Adjust your diet and rest routines before Tet

When your body is in good condition, you will be less likely to feel exhausted during Tet. Before Tet, you should:

  • Get enough sleep

  • Reduce alcohol and greasy fried foods

  • Increase green vegetables, fruits, and drinking water

  • Exercise lightly every day

4. Do not ignore abnormal signs, even small ones

Many people often have the mindset of “waiting until after Tet to deal with it”, but some small signs can be early warnings of health problems such as persistent headaches; dizziness, rapid heartbeat; stomach pain, digestive disorders; unexplained fatigue. Visiting a doctor does not take too much time, but it helps the whole family truly enjoy moments of reunion.

5. General Health Check-up

Tet is only truly joyful when everyone is healthy enough to be together. If it has been more than 6–12 months since you or your family members last had a general health check-up, now is a very appropriate time to do so. Early screening helps to:

  • Detect potential issues early

  • Effectively manage chronic conditions (blood pressure, blood lipids, diabetes, etc.)

  • Avoid situations requiring hospital visits during the Tet holidays.
