“GIVING BIRTH” DURING TET HOLIDAY - WHAT SHOULD YOU DO?
If your due day is expected around Tet holiday, you should pay attention to the following things to make sure your baby is born safe and healthy.
Relax and be well-prepared.
Instead of being nervous and worried, think positively, relax and get ready.
What you need to do is have regular prenatal checks. Based on your doctor’s prediction of the due date, prepare yourself, necessary stuff, transportation, people who will take care of home and take care of you during labour… so that when the time comes, you are good to go.
Minimize long distance trips during Tet holiday.
Your diet and bed rest schedule tend to change dramatically during Tet holiday. If your due date is around Tet, you should minimize long distance trips. You should maintain your rest schedule as much as possible, and pay attention to labour signs. If necessary, visit the hospital.
Adopt a special diet.
Avoid foods that are high in protein, fat, avoid alcoholics and drugs. Instead, eat foods that are high in fibre, vitamins, drink plenty of water to make sure you are in the best physical condition to welcome your baby.
Some foods that are not good for your health: Banh chung - Vietnamese traditional cake in Tet holiday which is delicious but fatty and its ingredient - sticky rice will make your stomach uncomfortable; cookies and candies which are sugar-rich...
What should you do if you notice any abnormal signs?
The American International Hospital (AIH)’s outpatient clinics will be closed during Tet holiday. However, you can be rest assured that our Obstetrics Department’s doctors will be available 24/24. If you notice any of these signs: abdominal pain, bleeding, watery discharge or decreased fetal movements, visit the Emergency Department immediately for examination.
Obstetrics and Gynecology is one of the five leading-edge specialties at AIH. Our team of doctors and medical staff will follow up and have specific advice to patients to deliver high-quality and safest healthcare and treatment services.
